Everyone has or wants a laptop, I know I do. It's great for mobile communication and accessing wireless hotspots. You can take them with you if your daily activities require you to travel long distances frequently.
Classic Desktops
The classic desktop computer may be a bit outdated via laptops, iPhones, Blackberries and other mobile devices. It would look silly walking around with a desktop or using it in the park. It is cheaper than laptops and are easier to upgrade as well. Most people use gaming as their number one use for desktops. Either way it is fading out, even if you have a flat screen monitor.
